(MESQUITE, Nev) - The City of Mesquite, Leisure Services Department, would like to say thank you to all the volunteers, organizations and individuals for their help organizing and contributing to this year's annual Thanksgiving Dinner. “It was a tremendous success, thanks largely to the generosity of the sponsors, donors and volunteers,” said Grisyeda Belalcazar, Program Supervisor.

We served around 1,531 walk-ins, 150 homebound and 150 Dinners to assisted living facilities in Mesquite. Everything with the City Mesquites Annual Thanksgiving Dinner was wonderful. Over 100 valuable volunteers helped set-up, prepare, serve, clear tables and clean-up for the dinner.

All volunteers, organizations, individuals and community leaders are to be commended for all their generosity and kindness. Senior Programmer, Krissy Thornton, praised all volunteers and said, “Their helpful and cheerful attitude made it a very warm and cordial environment”. Grateful for all the help, Thornton did point out some special volunteers: Rob Stepp, Thomas Garrad, Kristi Anderson, Dave and Collette Price, Mesquite Newspapers/Internet sources, Boy Scouts, City of Mesquite Mayor, Council & Staff, and all of the senior volunteers that helped prepare the facility, decorations and food for the event!!!

Generous donors for the dinner included Eureka Casino & Hotel, Kokopelli Landscaping, U.S. Food Services, Sysco Food Services, McDonalds, Meadow Gold Dairy Products and Silver Rider and other donors that wish to remain anonymous.

The City of Mesquite Department of Athletics & Leisure Services will definitely look forward to working with all businesses, organizations and volunteers in the future.

Once again, thank you all for your contributions and volunteer hours that helped make this event extremely successful.

If you are interested in volunteering time or services for the Senior/Community Center at all during the year please call the Mesquite Senior Services Division at 346-5290.
