(FILLMORE, Utah) - The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) Utah Little Sahara Recreation Area (LSRA) will close the LSRA visitor center for winter from Dec. 1, 2013, through Feb. 8, 2014. Closing the visitor center over the winter months saves money by reducing operating costs during periods when LSRA visitation is low. While the center is closed, BLM staff will not be available to assist LSRA visitors.

“During the winter months, water will be available at the water fill station, and vault toilets will be maintained, so the public can still recreate at Little Sahara even though services are limited and the visitor center is closed,” said Jay Cram, LSRA outdoor recreation planner.

The public is still required to pay the daily use fee at the self-pay fee station, and law enforcement will continue to patrol the recreation area. The public is reminded to take all appropriate safety measures, including not riding alone, using protective equipment, and wearing clothing suited to adverse weather conditions.

All emergencies should be called in to 9-1-1. Non-emergencies can be reported by calling into call the Juab County Sheriff’s Office at (435)623-1626. Any LSRA maintenance-related issues should be reported to LSRA outdoor recreation planner at (435)433-5960 or (801)971-6592.

Don’t forget that LSRA season passes and gift certificates are still available at the BLM-Utah Fillmore Field Office, (435) 743-3100 and the BLM-Utah Salt Lake Field Office, (801) 977-4300.
