(SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) – Utah Governor Gary R. Herbert has signed the official letter to appoint Jon Cox to Utah House District 58 in the Utah State Legislature. The appointment comes at the recommendation of the Republican Party delegates who selected Cox, a Sanpete County Commissioner, to replace Spencer J. Cox, who now serves as Utah Lieutenant Governor.

“Jon Cox has demonstrated an ability to be a strong and able voice for the people he served in Sanpete County as a commissioner,” the Governor said. “I am confident that in his new legislative role he will continue to advocate for Utah’s rural communities.”

“It’s an honor to serve the residents of Sanpete and Juab counties in the Legislature,” said Representative Cox. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on the issues that are critical to rural Utah.”

A former constituent liaison for Senator Bob Bennett and current assistant professor of history at Snow College, Jon Cox is a resident of Ephraim.
