(ST. GEORGE, Utah) - Dr. Nancy Allred has been appointed as the new director of the Southern Utah Heritage Choir. She is replacing Floyd Rigby, who announced his resignation recently.

Rigby has provided inspired leadership for much of the Choir’s 20-year history. His devotion to the Choir is unmatched. Under his direction, the Choir has performed throughout the St. George community and surrounding areas, and abroad in many countries throughout the world. In partnership with his wife Claire, he recently led the Choir on a tour of Ireland, with performances in several major cathedrals, including the Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin. His friendship and love for each choir member will be greatly missed. Rigby has agreed to stay on as Founding Director and will maintain a connection with the Choir.

Long time associate director and accompanist for the Heritage Choir, Dr Allred has freely contributed her musical skill, talents, and abilities to the Choir for over ten years. Associate Professor of Music at Dixie State University, she also chairs the piano faculty, where she mentors a remarkable group of student pianists. She holds advanced degrees from Brigham Young University and the University of Missouri. Respected and loved by the Choir, her new role as director will be an exciting new chapter in the musical legacy of the Choir.

Dr. Allred will be directing the rehearsals and performances for the traditional Heritage Choir Christmas concerts to be held in the St. George Tabernacle on December 13, 14, and 15 at 7:30PM. All concerts are free to the public.

Great pianist! Great piano teacher! NOT an alumna of the University of Missouri. Dr. Allred received her doctorate at the Conservatory of Music at the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
