(OREM, Utah) - Interested filmmakers of all ages are invited to the first annual “Filmmaking 101 Conference,” which will run from 9:00am-4:00pm on Saturday November 16 in the new science building at Utah Valley University.

How do you direct or produce a film? How do you light a set, use a green screen, or take a story and transform it into a film worth watching?

Budding filmmakers in Utah can learn these skills and more from such experienced filmmakers as Steven Lee, a feature film producer, Mallory Everton, from Studio C, Stuart Edge, a famous YouTuber, Cammon Randle, a special effects expert, Dave Roberts, from Kid History, and others, for a $20 daypass.

Although the Filmmaking 101 Conference is open to all ages, young or old, it kicks off a Film Contest especially for ages 8-18, followed by a Film Festival. “There is a future in filmmaking,” explains Valerie Harmon from Young Filmmakers of Utah. “Our goal is to prepare the next generation for that future with opportunities in the Media Arts."

With Utah’s strong presence on YouTube, feature films, and award winning filming departments at the university level, there is no better place to encourage beginning filmmakers in the art and technology of the industry.

All proceeds of the Young Filmmakers of Utah Conference, Contest and Festival go towards providing educational fieldtrips for students.

Young Filmmakers of Utah expects the Conference to sell out. Buy your tickets now at http://youngfilmmakersofutah.org/attend-event.
