(ST. GEORGE, Utah) - On Friday November, 8th 8:30 am -12:00 pm, at the Washington City Community Center, 350 Community Center Drive, Washington City, the Southern Utah Air Quality Task Force is hosting the 4th Annual Clean Air Summit. This year the summit will focus on air quality issues affecting local citizens, industry, business and government. The City of St. George and other cities have been proactive in their approach to maintaining the blue skies and clean air that attract people to the area. In 2006 the Air Quality Task Force was formed and just one year later an Air Quality Ordinance was passed in the City of St. George. The health of our residents and the future of Southern Utah’s Recreation and tourism economy depend on maintaining clean air.

Local Industry and Contractors represented by AGC have made tremendous strides to regulate their industries and do their part in ensuring that they meet high industry practice standards in air quality. Since the inception of the Task Force, there has been consistent and strong representation from industry leaders. Utah Clean Cities, Citizens for Dixie’s Future and the Southwest Utah Public Health Department have contributed to the strength of the task force, along with private citizens.

This year’s keynote Speaker will be Alan Matheson, Environmental Advisor to Governor Herbert. The summit will have presentations by experts in the following fields:

    • State and local Air Quality and Health issues by Colleen Delaney, Bill Swenson, Robert Beers

    • Industry Best Management Practices by Dale Ipson

    • Alternative Transportation Solutions by Larry Bullock and Levi Roberts

    • Scott Hirschi, Director Washington Co. Economic Development Council will facilitate questions and answers.
