(ST. GEORGE, Utah) - At approximately 2:00 P.M. a dump truck overturned in the intersection of Red Hills Parkway and Bluff St. in St. George. The dump truck was traveling south on SR 18 and attempted to make a left turn onto Red Hills Parkway. As the dump truck was making the turn, the contents in the dump shifted causing the truck to tip over. The truck was carrying a load of trash from a construction site. The driver of the truck was not injured and there were no other vehicles involved in the accident. Several lanes of traffic were shut down in the area for almost two hours, causing long traffic delays. It is believed that speed was not a factor in this accident, but the shifting contents of the dump truck is what caused the truck to tip over. The driver of the dump truck was not issued a citation; however the owner of the dump truck was issued a citation for not having the vehicle registered.
