(ST. GEORGE, Utah) - Dixie State University, in association with the Southern Utah Recycling Coalition (SURC), will be hosting an “America Recycles Day” event on Friday, November 15, from 1-6 p.m., at the DSU Encampment Mall. This event is free and open to all DSU students, faculty, staff and the community to attend.

DSU and SURC, along with many other local and regional businesses and organizations will be on hand to discuss and promote various recycling efforts in Washington County and southwestern Utah. There will also be food vendors and entertainment, along with games and craft for children.

“There is change on the horizon, as global citizens we can get engaged and make a positive difference,” says Denise Tomer, SURC sustainability consultant. “There are many opportunities to make sound economic and ecological choices that coincide with our daily and long-term endeavors.”

For more information on becoming an event sponsor, or to serve as an exhibitor or volunteer, please contact DSU Sustainability Committee Chair Tracey O’Kelly at 435-652-7710 or at okelly@dixie.edu.

“America Recycles Day” is a national program of the non-profit organization Keep America Beautiful, Inc., and is the only nationally recognized day and community-driven awareness event dedicated to promoting and celebrating recycling in the U.S. Since its inception in 1997, communities across the country have participated in America Recycles Day on November 15 to educate, promote environmental citizenship, and encourage action.
