(ST. GEORGE, Utah) – The Dixie State University Women's Resource Program will hold a one-hour Women's Career Forum on “Succeeding as a Woman in STEM” with electrical engineer and author Karen Purcell, on Monday, Nov. 4, 12-1 p.m., in the Browning Resource Center Dunford Auditorium. Admission is free and open to all DSU students, faculty and staff, and the community.

Ms. Purcell’s presentation will provide insights on what exactly STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) is and how to be successful in the field of STEM, despite the hurdles women face as a minority. She is the founder and owner of PK Electrical, an electrical engineering, design and consulting firm. Purcell also wrote the book “Unlocking Your Brilliance,” which inspires and motivates women everywhere to pursue careers in the STEM fields, and she is the recipient of many prestigious awards in recognition of her work.

For more information on the Women’s Career Forum, please contact DSU assistant professor of English Dr. Florence Bacabac at 652-7897.
