This certification has been achieved through the successful completion of a background application and an intensive electronic examination prepared by the Jail Manager Certification Commission and American Jail Association. Certification in jail operations is a demonstration of competency and professionalism in the field. The jail officer’s certification documents the mastery of a strong level of knowledge in the specialty and demonstrates continuing education and growth.
Sergeant Clouse has been employed as a Detention Officer for 10 years, 8 years as a Detention Sergeant. He is a Coconino County Sheriff’s Office Detention Academy Instructor and graduate of the Arizona Leadership Program. His other accomplishments include certification as a Field Training Officer and he serves as a Quality Assurance Specialist.
Sergeant Runyan has been a Detention Officer for 9 years, 6 years as a Detention Sergeant. He is the Page Detention Firearms Instructor and is also a recent graduate of the Arizona Leadership Program. Sergeant Runyan is also trained in Critical Incident Stress Management and is a Field Training Officer for the Sheriff’s Office.
Additional Personnel assigned to the Detention Facility located in Flagstaff who have achieved the national designation of Certified Jail Officer through the Jail Manager Certification Commission, include: Maria Angleton, Patrick Baze, Christopher Holdread, Tom Hover, Alexander Lucas, Walter Suchowiejko, Sue Thompson and Ronald Wagoner. Lt. Matt Figueroa and Commander Kurt Braatz have earned the distinction of Certified Jail Manager.
