Jung opened with a 75 on Monday but shot even par 73 on Tuesday over the par 73, 5,996-yard Cypress Ridge course to finish six shots off the pace of medalist Annie Freman of Santa Clara.
The Thunderbirds were in eighth place after Monday’s round of 321 but they shaved 12 strokes off that score on Tuesday to move up three spots and finish at 630, 18 strokes behind team champion and tournament host Cal Poly, which shot 608 (310-298) over its home course.
Taylor Viquelia finished second among Thunderbirds in 25th place at 159 (81-78), with Rynae Baca 29th at 160 (81-79), Nicole Thomas 38th at 163 (84-79) and Shantell Spackman 45th at 165 (86-79). Carly Parsons finished 65th playing as an individual (85-97, 182).
The Thunderbirds were two shots behind Santa Clara (318-310, 628) and just six behind third place UC Riverside (316-308, 624). Seattle finished second at 616 (316-300). SUU finished three shots up on sixth place Weber State (318-315, 633) and Cal Poly’s B-team (318-315, 633), with Sonoma State (316-320, 636) seventh, followed by Dixie State (327-319, 646) Cal State Monterey Bay (328-320, 648) and Cal State Bakersfield (332-329, 661).
