The Women’s Leadership Council (WLC) was created in 2006 and is an affiliate of United Way Worldwide National Women's Leadership Council. The WLC is comprised of successful women who donate time and resources to help ensure young women get the support they need to achieve academic success. There are currently 190 members who last year invested more than $500,000 to benefit the organization, and contributed nearly 500 volunteer hours.
Keynote speaker is Joan Cronan, women’s athletic director emeritus and consultant and advisor to the chancellor at the University of Tennessee. A student panel of young women will also offer their perspective on the benefits of post-secondary education. Many of these women are first generation high school graduates and first generation college students. In addition, Andrea Wolcott will be honored as this year’s WLC member of the year.
The event will also feature dinner, a fashion show and the opportunity to win prize packages containing jewelry from O.C. Tanner tucked in designer handbags from famed designers.
The event will take place on Wednesday, October 30 at 7 p.m. with a reception at 6 p.m. at the Little America Hotel Grand Ballroom, 500 S. Main St., Salt Lake City.
