(SIMI VALLEY, Calif) – Southern Utah’s men’s golf team shot a final-round 301 to slip four spots and finish 15th at Cal State Northridge’s Bill Cullum Invitational on Tuesday. Nic Booth led the way for the Thunderbirds with a 10th place finish after shooting 2-under par 214 at the 6,819-yard, par 72 Wood Ranch Golf Club.

SUU opened with a round of 300 on Monday and followed with a round of 287 to sit tied with Gonzaga in 11th place heading into Tuesday’s final round. The final-round 301 allowed Gonzaga to break the tie with a 299 while Sacramento State, Hawaii and Seattle all moved past the Thunderbirds.

SUU finished at 24-over par 888, 39 shots off the pace of tournament champ Cal State Fullerton, which finished at 15-under 849, one shot better than San Diego and three ahead of No. 24 Arizona State. SUU finished 10 shots clear of 16th-place Utah Valley.

Booth finished Tuesday’s round with three straight birdies as he moved up 20 spots on the final day of play to card his first top-10 finish of the season and his best since coming in ninth at the 2011 Wildcat Invitational.

Sammy Cole was second among Thunderbirds in 32nd place at 3-over par 219, with Tim Leonard 57th at 225, Jake Holt 76th at 230 and Jameson Keiley 102nd at 242.
