    (ST. GEORGE, Utah) - Veannetta Griffiths Harris, age 88, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2013, in St. George, Utah. She was born May 13, 1925 in Lewisville, Idaho to Ensign Cloy and Edna Bundy Harris.

    Veannetta was 3-months-old when the family moved to Mt. Trumbull, AZ, where she was raised and enjoyed a wonderful childhood. Her father passed away when Veannetta was only 15 years old. Throughout her life, Veannetta has lived in Southern Utah and Nevada.

    Veannetta married Rex Harris on January 27, 1981. They spent many happy years together in Toquerville. Rex and Veannetta traveled in their later years, and it was a highlight for her. Veannetta kept busy and was a hard worker always upbeat. She enjoyed sewing and was an exceptional quilter. She loved being outdoors, especially in her garden. Veannett was always pleasant and friendly and was endeared to many.

    She is survived by her grandchildren, David Lee (Heather) Davenport of Hurricane, UT and Sonne Marie (Scott) Ouelette of Las Vegas, NV; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Norma (Val) Bettridge of Spring City, UT; brothers, Robert (Betty) Griffiths of Glide, OR, Dilworth Griffiths of West Jordan, UT and Wilford (June) Griffiths of Myrtle Creek, OR. She is preceded in death by her parents, Ensign Cloy and Edna Griffiths; husband, Rex Harris; daughter, Glenna Rae Davenport; grandson, Leroy Davenport; brother, Ensign Cloy Griffiths Jr.; and sister, Anna Pauline Standley.

    Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 17, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurricane 7th Ward Chapel, 155 E. 1050 N., Hurricane, UT. There will be a viewing Thursday from 12:00-1:30 p.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment will take place in the Hurricane City Cemetery.
