  • Social Security Discontinues Visits to Several Nevada Contact Stations

    (MESQUITE, Nev) - The City of Mesquite has been officially notified that the Social Security is discontinuing its face-to-face visits to Beatty, Pioche, Caliente, Alamo, Moapa, Tonopah, Mesquite and Overton Nevada. The final visit will be in October 2013.

    According to Las Vegas District Manager Ed Weir, “Due to the persistent budgetary constraints, after October we will no longer be able to send a representative to these contact stations.” Weir emphasized that most Social Security business does not require an in-person interview. “Information and many services are available at www.socialsecurity.gov;” “You can file for retirement or disability benefits online from the convenience of your home. Social Security also has a toll-free telephone service with live agents Monday through Friday from 7 A.M. to 7 P.M. and recorded information all the time. The toll-free telephone number is (800) 772-1213.

    Persons who need to visit a Social Security Office would have to travel to the local offices located in Las Vegas metro areas:

    • Las Vegas Office: 1250 S. Buffalo Drive, Suite 150; Las Vegas, NV 89117

    • Las Vegas Card Center Office 1250 S. Buffalo Drive, Suite 100, Las Vegas 89117

    • North Las Vegas Office: 4340 Simmons Street; North Las Vegas 89032

    • Henderson Office: 10416 S. Eastern Avenue; Henderson, NV 89052

    All social security card business for residents of Clark, Nye, Lincoln, and Esmeralda counties must be handled by the Las Vegas Social Security Card Center with the Las Vegas District Office. Business can be conducted in person through or through the mail.
