Based on the popular NBC-TV show “America’s Got Talent,” the annual Dixie’s Got Talent showcases the musical talents of both DSU students and residents of Washington County in a number of competitive categories and age divisions. Vocalists, small groups and bands (up to 10 members, must be private and not affiliated with any school), instrumentalists and all musicians are encouraged to audition.
Contestants will compete in three different age divisions, including juniors (age 14-under); young adults (age 15-to-25) and adult/senior (age 26-older). Musicians may also perform a cappella or with accompaniment, whether by CD, pianist or other accompaniment. Prospective contestants may apply for the audition online on Facebook at www.facebook.com/DixiesGotTalent.
Selected contestants from the audition sessions will advance to the Fourth-Annual Dixie’s Got Talent grand event, which will be held January 24, 2014, at the Avenna Center Cox Auditorium on the DSU campus. Qualifying contestants will compete for top honors in each age category as well as prizes from a number of community sponsors.
Proceeds from this year’s event will go to benefit DSU scholarships through the DSU Scholarship Associates. For more information on the Fourth-Annual Dixie’s Go Talent contest, visit www.facebook.com/DixiesGotTalent.
