St. George Robbery Arrest

(ST. GEORGE, Utah) – On Sunday, October 13th at approximately 3:20 P.M. St George Police officers responded to the Smiths Grocery store located at 20 N. Bluff St. on a reported robbery. An elderly couple was in the parking lot loading groceries into their vehicle when they were approached by a male individual. This male was later identified as 25 year old Jordan Thomas Elkins. Jordan asked the couple for money and they willingly gave Jordan some cash. Jordan responded by asking for more money. When the female victim opened her wallet, Jordan grabbed all the money in the wallet and ran. The victims immediately called the police and provide the police with a detailed description of the suspect and a direction of travel. Moments after the robbery, St George Dispatch received several calls of a suspicious male in an apartment complex near Smith’s grocery store. The description of this suspicious male matched the description of the male who had just committed the robbery at Smith’s. Officers responded to the apartment complex and made contact with Jordan Thomas Elkins. With help from the victims and witnesses at Smiths as well as video surveillance Officers were able to determine that Jordan was the suspect in the robbery at Smith’s. Jordan was taken into custody and placed under arrest. Jordan was transported to the Washing County Jail and charged with Felony Robbery. The St George Police Department is grateful to the victims in this case who responded appropriately by quickly contacting the police and providing a detailed description of the suspect.
