The Quilt Cottage hosted their fifth annual, “Witches Workshop” on Oct. 2, to a full house with every electric outlet powering sewing machines. The environment provides a low stress setting for all who attend. Everyone is willing to give advice, help teach, and socialize.
In 2008, Lynette Bingham, like many others, was laid off from her job. She and two of her friends, Sariah Mortensen and Wendy Lemmon, got together and talked about their future. With the support of their husbands they decided to open their own business. The common thread among the three was their love of sewing.
The three woman said, that there was not a better time to make their dreams a reality. On November 12, 2008 their dream came true, when they opened the doors to The Quilt Cottage.
“We call that stitch the Frog stitch, because you have to rip it,” Sariah Mortensen said to encourage a first time attendee.
With 70 years of experience between the three of them, these ladies provide the assurance, skills and knowledge you would want and expect in a sewing class. The workshops provide a comfortable place where people come together to enjoy homemade goodies, and share their love of sewing. Whether you are a novice or an expert, you will always be welcomed by the ladies at The Quilt Cottage.
The store hours are Monday through Friday,10 am to 6 pm and Saturday 10 am to 4 pm. For information on classes and workshops, you can visit www.mainstreetquiltcottage.blogspot.com or give them a call at 435.635.4748.
