    (CEDAR CITY, Utah) – Southern Utah’s women’s golf team plays the penultimate event of its fall 2013 season this weekend when the Thunderbirds travel to Palm Desert, California to compete in Wyoming’s Cowgirl Desert Intercollegiate.

    The 54-hole tournament will be held at the par 72, 6,112-yard Classic Club, with 36 holes on Saturday and the final 18 on Sunday.

    Scheduled to compete for the Thunderbirds are junior Monica Jung, sophomores Rynae Baca and Nicole Thomas and freshmen Taylor Viquella and Carly Parsons.

    The 20-team field is scheduled to include SUU, Cal Poly, CSU Fullerton, CSU Northridge, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Fresno State, Hawai’i, Montana, Montana State, Northern Arizona, Northern Colorado, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Seattle, UC Riverside, Rollins, Weber State, Western Carolina and host Wyoming.

    SUU last competed at the ORU Shootout on Oct. 1 where the team finished 12th. SUU finished 12th at the Desert Intercollegiate last year.
