(SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) - Global Learning Partners, Inc. is proud to announce that Dr. Christelle L. Estrada, English Language Arts Specialist, Utah State Office of Education, is winner of the inaugural Jane Vella Dialogue Education 2013 Award—Individual.

The award celebrates Dr. Estrada’s far-reaching accomplishments in encouraging efforts to revolutionize learning through the Dialogue Education approach that espouses that adults learn best through a “dialogue” that takes place in an atmosphere of mutual respect, safety and relevant context.

Over the past three years, in her role at the Utah State Office of Education (USOE), Estrada has transformed the way learning happens in Utah.

“I have not just been totally committed to the principles and practices of Dialogue Education,” she said, “but have integrated it into every aspect of my work and life. Dialogue Education has been the single most influential experience in both my career of 40 years in education and in my life.”

This biennial award, named in honor of Dr. Jane Vella, founder of Dialogue Education, is presented to practitioners who demonstrate outstanding practice and exceptional potential for furthering the influence of effective adult learning. The award embodies Jane Vella’s understanding of this educational method, best espoused in her statement “The means is dialogue, the end is learning, and the purpose is peace.”

Dr. Estrada joins Habitat for Humanity International, Latin America and Caribbean Area Office, winner of the Jane Vella Dialogue Education 2013 Award—Organization. Each winner, individual and organization, will receive the award and $1000.00.

The award will be presented in a special ceremony during the International Dialogue Education Institute on Sunday, October 27, 8:00 a.m. EDT, in the Harborside Room at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel, Baltimore, Maryland.
