Cleon Ona Davies, 72, passed away at his home Tuesday, September 17, 2013 after a long struggle with heart disease.

Cleon was born on April 5, 1941 to William Hyrum and Donna Winger Davies in Nibley, UT. He spent his childhood in the Los Angeles area and then moved to Las Vegas, NV. In 1966, Cleon returned to Utah and there met and married Joyce Hall in the St. George Temple. He finished his degrees at Dixie College and Utah State University. Together he and Joyce made their home in St. George for 34 years. St. George was always home for him. He claimed that he has never been able to get the red sand out of his socks.

Cleon was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Cleon was a missionary, an insurance salesman, an outdoorsman, and a lifelong Scouter. He was passionate about making a difference in the lives of the boys he served and was always there to listen to those in need.

Cleon is survived by his wife Joyce Orlene Hall Davies, their five children, Karen (Chris) Barney, Sharon (Rick) Erickson, Laura (Falan) Memmott, Will (Jodi) Davies and Brian (Megan) Davies and eleven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at Saturday, September 21 at 11 a.m. at the St. George 2nd & 8th Ward Chapel, 166 South Main, St. George, UT. A Memorial Gathering will be held at the Davies’ home, 6717 High Bluff Dr., West Jordan, UT from 5-7 p.m., Monday, September 23rd.
