This marks the first tournament win for You and his fifth top 10 finish. His best previous finish was 2nd place at the Coyote Classic in February of 2013. Ironically, it was also the last time he shot 69.
As a team, the Red Storm jumped from seventh place yesterday to a 3rd place finish. They shot 286 today to finish with an 878 in the 54-hole event.
British Columbia, which was third after 36 holes Monday, shot 9-under par 279, the best round of the tourney, to win by five strokes at 867. Sonoma State was second at 872 (285).
You won the tournament by one stroke over Sonoma State's Alex Marry (69=207). Montana State Billings' Brad Harrelson was third at 212 (74), with Kelly and UBC' Scott Secord (70) tied for fourth at 214.
You began the day as the leader with a one-shot advantage over Marry and Harrelson.
Helping the Red Storm make their move was Hayden Christensen (Vancouver, WA/Hockinson) (222) and Jesse Porch (Florence/Hamilton), (229) who each carded even-par 72's. Christensen finished tied for 18th and Porch tied for 39th.
Sandwiched in between the two for DSU, was Cody Wass (West Haven, UT/Fremont) (226), who shot 75 and finished tied for 27th. Skylar Schone (Washington, UT/Pine View) (230) shot a final round 73 and tied for 40th place.
The Red Storm have two weeks off before they travel to the Chico State Wildcat Invitational on Oct. 7 and 8 in Corning, Calif. at the Serviallano Links Golf Club.
