(BELMONT, Calif) – An old proverbial adage claims about having home field advantage. In Thursday's Pacific West Conference soccer match, Notre Dame de Namur forward Jonathan Gonzalez felt the Koret Field magic netting a goal in each half to lead the host Argos to a 2-0 win over Dixie State.

The Red Storm played an even first half with NDNU in the shot column, but could not find the back of the net. Erik Shallenberger (Las Vegas, NV/Arbor View) fired two shots in the six minutes, one saved and another that sailed wide.

"We played another solid game, but in the end it came down to missed opportunities," head coach Danny Ortiz said.

NDNU had control from most of the second half, out shooting DSU 11 to four.

Gonzales gave the Argos a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute on a one-timer set up by a pair of entry passes. He later iced the game in the 89th minute cashing in a breakaway goal.

Shallenberger led all Dixie State (0-3-1, 0-2-0 PacWest) players with four shots, including a shot on goal. Nadav Elimelech (Las Vegas, NV/Spring Valley) and Kris Evans (Draper, UT/Alta) fired shots on goal in the match.

Tyler Walters (Ogden, UT/Ben Lomand) made three saves, but took the loss in goal while NDNU's Jay Tsuruoka earned the shutout with three saves.

Dixie State ends a trip to the Bay Area with a 1:30 pm. Match on Saturday with Dominican.
