(HURRICANE, Utah) - At approximately 12:55 AM, Sunday morning Officers responded on a report of a head on vehicle accident in the area of 2500 West State Street. Officers were told that one vehicle was on fire and bystanders were putting the fire out, which they were able to. Officers arrived and found that two vehicles were involved in the accident and 3 people were injured. Multiple travel lanes were blocked and traffic was diverted for a short period of time.

Officers conducted an investigation and found that a grey BMW passenger car was traveling Eastbound on State Street and drifted over the center lane and into oncoming traffic. A brown Chevy pickup was traveling Westbound in the inside lane as the BMW crossed over and struck this vehicle. The Chevy truck was driven by a male and had a male passenger; both were injured in the accident and transported by ambulance to DRMC. The male driver of the BMW was also injured and transported by ambulance to DRMC; he was the only passenger in that vehicle.

Officers had reason to suspect the driver of the BMW was under the influence of alcohol and was charged with DUI, as well as several other traffic related charges.

Both vehicles were disabled and had to be towed.

Utah Highway Patrol Troopers and Washington County Sheriff Deputies responded to assist.
