(FLAGSTAFF, AZ) - During the morning hours of Friday, August 23, 2013 Coconino County Sheriff’s Detectives arrested twenty year old Jeremiah Boswell of Flagstaff, AZ for one count of First Degree Residential Burglary and one count of Aggravated Assault in connection with a Home Invasion that occurred on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 in a rural community located about ten miles south of Flagstaff. Also arrested for one count of Conspiracy to Commit First Degree Burglary was Boswell’s girlfriend nineteen year old Tiffany Varming of Flagstaff.

On August 21, 2013 at about 11:57 a.m. Coconino County Sheriff’s Deputies were radio dispatched to a private residence located in the rural subdivision of Mountainaire off of Interstate Highway 17 on the report of a burglary in progress. According to the adult male homeowner and reporting party, he returned home from work and found what he described as an adult male who was wearing black paint or makeup on his face hiding in a room inside his house. According to the victim the suspect later identified as Boswell pointed what appeared to be a handgun at him and the two became involved in a physical altercation. Boswell responded by producing a knife and making slashing motions in close proximity to the victim. Boswell also produced a hand held “Stun-Gun” and attempted to discharge it on the victim’s body.

During the course of this intensive investigation, detectives learned that Tiffany Varming was a professional acquaintance of one of the victim’s relatives. After additional inquires, detectives identified Tiffany Varming and her boyfriend Jeremiah Boswell as potential suspects in this armed home invasion. Detectives believed that Jeremiah was similar in appearance to the suspect description provided by the victim.

On August 22, 2013 Sheriff’s Detectives contacted both suspects at their place of residence located within the Flagstaff city limits. Although neither individual made any statements that would implicate them in this crime, detectives were able to locate items which were consistent with things left at the scene.

Detectives served a search warrant on the suspects’ residence late Friday afternoon and located and seized items that further implicate them in this crime. Coconino County Sheriff’s Detectives are continuing this investigation and will present the case to the Coconino County Attorney’s Office for official charging. Additional Charges are anticipated.

It is well known that throughout the country Home Invasions by armed suspects often result in serious physical injury or death to the victims. Investigators believe that the quick and deliberate actions of the victim prevented him and his family members from being seriously injured. Detectives believe that the suspects specifically targeted the victim and his home and do not believe this crime was a random act.
