About DOCUTAH: Southern Utah International Documentary Film Festival originated at DSU in 2010. It is the brainchild of Phil Tuckett who was VP of NFL films for 38 years and received 30 Emmy awards during that time. DOCUTAH has been praised as one of the nation’s best “Small-Town Documentary Film Festivals for 2012” by the Public Broadcasting System (PBS). Films are screened at indoor and outdoor venues among the red rocks of Southern Utah and Southern Nevada. By blending the attractions of breathtaking Southern Utah with a love of documentaries, the 2013-year encouraged 350 submissions; engaging professional and student film makers from 39 different countries. Attendees come for the films, stay for the scenery and depart having experienced inspiration. Being presented by DSU allows DOCUTAH the opportunity to offer an academic component. The festival welcomes student submissions and provides master class seminars and filmmaker panels whereby students and amateur documentarians can learn the art of filmmaking. Academic credit is offered to students looking for additional credit hours. It is the mission of DOCUTAH to inspire a global connection through documentary films and intellectual discussion. DOCUTAH, envision the world through documentary film.
