This program will consistence of St. George Dance Company members with choreographic works by the artistic Director Summer Belnap Robertson, as wells as several guest choreographers and dancers many of whom have ties to St. George.
Concert Director Summer Belnap Robertson said “Organizing this dance concert with an open submission format gives us the opportunity to share the stage with many choreographers and dancers that were in southern Utah and have now relocated to Salt Lake City. It will be a dance reunion for us!”
The dance pieces cover a range of topics and themes including a solo work called “Sticks and Stones” by Michelle Brown that explores her experiences helping her own children let hurtful words roll off their backs. Choreographer Shelby Ogden was inspired by a video game and created a dance for eight based on it entitled “Journey”. Summer Robertson will present a work entitled “The Cruise” which was motivated by the way excited, happy, passengers feel as the board a ship and then the worried, scared, trapped, hungry, stinky, state that occurs as they are stranded for four days at sea.
Choreographers and dancers participating are: Camille Bahoravitch, Kira Barondeau, Michelle Brown, Madeline Carson, Cassie Christenson, Cameo Corburn, Kelsey Condie, Jasmine Crosby, Sherlynn Davis, Jacie Epperson, Bethany Gee, Sandra Griggs, Jennie Grimes, Chandler Hall, Angie Hansen, Erin Hulse, Jennie Jones, Kaitlyn Katter, Shelby Ogden, Jordan Peterson, Denise Purvis, Summer Robertson, Rebekah Wainright, Shaylee Warren, Alexandria Wall and J. Daniel Woodstock
The performance will include all types of contemporary movement that everyone will be sure to find something to take pleasure in.
