(SALT LAKE CITY, Utah) – Meet Shannon Hale, author of the novel Austenland, and co-writer of the screenplay for Austenland, the movie. Afternoon Tea will be served at The Grand America Hotel at 1 p.m. Tuesday, August 6. Guests will receive a copy of the novel and a pair of tickets – with guaranteed seating – to the Red Carpet Austenland Movie Premiere to be held that evening.

At the Tea, Shannon Hale will tell behind-the-scenes stories and share photos of the making of Austenland. Guests will enjoy The Grand America Hotel’s assortment teas and hot chocolates, savory finger sandwiches, an array of decadent pastries, creams and jams.

Shannon Hale and the film’s director, Jerusha Hess, will attend the Red Carpet Movie Premiere at the Broadway Centre Cinemas, 111 East 300 South at 6:30 p.m. The film will begin at 7 p.m. and will be followed by an audience Q&A session with Shannon Hale and Jerusha Hess. Hale will autograph copies of Austenland after the Q&A.

Afternoon Tea in Austenland is a fundraising event for the non-profit Salt Lake Film Society. As film companies switch to releasing movies only in digital format, the Salt Lake Film Society must replace film projectors with new digital technology for both the Broadway and Tower theaters. The Austenland fundraiser is one component of this effort.

The event is sponsored by The Grand America Hotel and presented in collaboration with Weller Book Works.
