(CEDAR CITY, Utah) - On July 26, approximately 25 miles Northwest of Cedar City, Utah, lightning started a fire along Highway 130. The fire is currently estimated at 250 acres. Two outbuildings and a pump house were threatened, but risks have been moderated. There has been no documented containment, but very little fire activity will enable crews to quickly contain this fire. Significant moisture fell on the Rush Lake Fire last night, moderating fire behavior. Fire fighting personnel anticipate that this fire will be 100% contained by late tonight or early tomorrow. Crews will spend the majority of the day ensuring fire perimeter is secured and putting out hot spots. 3 Type 4 engines, 2 Type 6 engines, 2 initial attack crews and a water tender are on-scene.
No evacuations are currently in effect, and no injuries have been reported.
