(WASHINGTON, Utah) - Nathan (“Nate”) Clark Whitney, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at his home in Washington, UT. Nate was born on September 19, 1985 in Salt Lake City to Gary Charles and Glenda Sparks Whitney.

Nate grew up in Cottonwood Heights and graduated from Brighton High School in 2004. He was a hard worker who studied at Salt Lake Community College and Dixie State University and most recently worked at the new Family Dollar distribution center in St. George. His contagious smile and fun, loving personality helped him easily make friends wherever he went.

Nate enjoyed both playing sports, especially golf with his Dad, brothers and close friends, and watching sports. He was able to see his two favorite teams, the Ravens and the Heat, win championships this year. He also loved traveling to visit his siblings in various parts of the country.

Nate possessed a tender heart and was a compassionate soul who above all cherished his family. In his 27 short years, he touched many hearts. He will be dearly missed.

Nate is survived by his parents, Gary and Glenda Whitney; brothers, Dane (Tara) Whitney and Chris (Lauri) Whitney; sisters, Jodi (Gavin) Young and Mindi (Dan) Wright; and 15 nieces and nephews who all dearly love Uncle Nate.

A viewing will be held on Friday, July 12th, from 6-7pm at Heidemen Hughes Mortuary, 1037 East 700 S., St. George, UT, and on Saturday, July 13th, at 10am prior to the funeral service at 11am at the LDS Church on 650 East Telegraph, Washington, UT.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Nate Whitney Memorial Fund at the Bank of Nevada, 11 Pioneer Blvd., Mesquite, NV 89027.
