  • George Washington Academy Awarded Charter School of the Year by UAPCS

    (WASHINGTON CITY, Utah) - George Washington Academy was named Charter School of the Year on Monday by the Utah Association of Public Charter Schools. Located in Washington Fields at 2277 South, 300 East, GWA serves over 1000 students in Grades K-8. The school focuses on advanced, challenging academics, with all students offered curriculum at least one grade level ahead and with opportunities for advancement beyond that.

    Students at GWA wear uniforms and are held to high standards of behavior, with character education being a cornerstone of the school. Additionally, George Washington Academy offers full-day kindergarten, a state of the art science lab, two computer/technology labs, a full library. and a very strong music and art program. Principal Don Fawson and Vice Principal Anya Yeager say they are thrilled with their award. "GWA simply offers another choice in education," said Yeager. "Our motto is 'Building a Strong Foundation,' which we do every day with the involvement of our devoted parents, faculty, and staff. We are a family and celebrate our successes knowing that we are all an important piece of the puzzle, so this award is very special to us." GWA currently has openings for students in Grades 6-8 and is accepting applications for all other grades.
