VAST is a sports specific training program designed to keep youth in grades 6-12 at the height of their game despite the lull in official school and league sports. “This program is ideal for high school athletes - you will improve your running, jumping, batting power, throwing, even dancing while increasing power, strength and endurance,” says IsoOctane CrossFit owner Kelly Washburn. “You do not have to be a school athlete to participate. This program is for anyone that wants to have fun, get stronger, and live a healthier lifestyle.” she said.
VAST kids participate and learn a variety of fitness concepts including Plyometric training, interval training, core stability, speed and agility, strength and flexibility through functional movement. During each 60-minute session VAST athletes will go through a guided dynamic warm up, skill work, a workout and cool down.
In addition, the program emphasizes clean eating and educates kids on record keeping and real world application of skill. Athletes will participate in activities and games that reinforce healthy eating. The nutrition portion of the program covers topics such as the effects of sugary drinks and treats, the importance of breakfast, and easy and fun ways to enjoy fruits and vegetables.
The VAST program costs $125 and begins on Monday June 3 and runs through July 26. Classes will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 a.m. There is a special credit available for those who register online. For more information visit http://octanefit.com
