(St. George, UT) - The Tonaquint Nature Center will be offering two special merit badge classes in September for area Boy Scouts. Each class will last two to three weeks and pre-registration is required. The class fee is $12 per scout for each class and will be taught from 4:30-6:00 pm.

On Tuesday, September 4, scouts will begin their elective Weather merit badge class. During this class, the instructor will meet the multiple educational elements including defining meteorology, explain the concept of weather, climate and more.

Finally, the Oceanography merit badge will be taught on Thursday, September 20 and 27. This elective badge will teach scouts the four branches of oceanography, why oceans play a role in our world’s ecosystem and the properties of water.

Registration can be done at the St George Recreation Center or on-line. Class sizes are limited and will fill up fast. Call 627-4560 for more information.
